Trying the iconic Dirt Bomb pastry at Cottage Street Bakery in Orleans

The Beachcomber is known for the Goombay Smash, Mac's Shack serves up beloved Hand Grenades, Bluefins has famous Pad Thai, and Cottage Street Bakery… they have the DIRT BOMB!
So, what exactly is a Dirt Bomb? According to Cottage Street Bakery's menu, it’s "our house specialty nutmeg muffin dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar." It tastes exactly as good as it sounds. If not better.
I arrived at Cottage Street early, so my Dirt Bombs were still warm. They had a delightful, almost fried-like crust, with a fluffy, soft interior. The flavors were spot-on—perfectly fall-like with the nutmeg and cinnamon. The sugar and the fry-like texture gave it a unique muffin-donut hybrid vibe.
A warm Dirt Bomb paired with a hot black coffee may just be my new favorite way to start the day!
